IM -- here I come!

WOW! Do I feel like a big girl now! I actually did the IM thing. Several years ago -- like 10, when we got our first computer at home, I decided I wanted to see what this chat thing was all about so I picked a chat room and watched the communication for a little bit -- eventually someone asked "Are you going to add anything, or just eavesdrop?" I felt really foolish and quickly hit the "get me out of here" button! I think this may have even been before instant messaging came about, which is definitely a better idea because you know whom you are talking with. Truthfully, I would rather pick up the phone and call my "people" than use IM-- I don't use the text message feature on my cell phone either, but remember I am in my upper 50's and a little hesitant about all the technology to master and about putting myself out on the WWW!

In the meantime, I'll pick up my nearest book and content myself with the written page. Right now I'm reading "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" -- supposedly an international bestseller that has recently been translated from Swedish into English. I am really enjoying this book -- it's about an older gentleman who is stumped by his great niece's disappearance and possible death in the 1960's. He hires Mikael -- a magazine editor who has recently been convicted of slander -- to write his biography, but more importantly to delve into the mystery of his niece. The "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is employed by a securities company and I think she will somehow wind up entangled with the older gentleman's story -- but I'll have to read on to find out. I am enjoying this one immensely.

Back to work.......keep on reading!
