Let's get started

I'm taking a BIG step into the 21st century -- my first blog! I love books and reading so naturally what else would I talk about? I always have a book or two within reach. I belong to two book clubs which keeps me happily reading --and if you love books you just have to be in a book club or two because sometimes you just have to talk about the books! I also read lots of juvenile and young adult literature because of my work with youth in libraries. My first love is fiction, but I'm not averse to picking up a memoiror nonfiction from time to time. Right now, I am reading Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones -- set in Papua New Guinea -- it is about the only white person on the island who sets up a school for the native children and reads Great Expectations to them. The children are all enthralled with Pip and look forward to his adventures every day. It's a little story, but a look into a world so unlike our own. I'm liking it a lot and will see how it goes.
